TGS 2008 Rumor: Kingdom Hearts III to be revealed at TGS 2008

Will Kingdom Hearts 3 be announced for the PlayStation 3?
The latest issue of OPM features a rumor that says Kingdom Hearts III will be revealed as a PlayStation 3 exclusive during TGS 2008. This is the exact quote:

“Kingdom Hearts III is currently in development as a PS3 exclusive and will be announced at TGS.”

Time will tell if it's actually true, but one thing's for sure - This year's TGS is going to be very interesting!

Square Enix Square Enix offers to take over Tecmo

Ninja Gaiden - Soon owned by Square Enix?
Square Enix offered to take over Tecmo, a Japanese company that's currently having a lot of problems. If you followed all the latest news, you already know that Tecmo's "Team Ninja", the team that worked on the Ninja Gaiden franchise, no longer works for the company.

Square Enix's plan is to purchase a controlling amount of shares in Tecmo at ¥960 a share (while the official price as of yesterday is ¥706 a share). Tecmo's board of directors has until September 4 to approve this request, and in case they refuse Square Enix will withdraw their offer.

Update: Square Enix has released a letter to the press explaining their decision:

"Video games have been globally recognized as a major entertainment genre, and have now become an industry receiving considerable attention in terms of its market size and growth potential. In the meantime, the game industry in Japan is standing at a critical juncture whether it continues to be a center of the video game industry in the world, or not.

TECMO is a group of excellent creators with proven track-record in the global market, which is a precious human resource of Japan. We, however, cannot be optimistic about the future of this significant resource, given the current circumstances surrounding TECMO.

We believe that TECMO will be able to make a great leap forward by joining the Square Enix Group, which will provide the group with further growth opportunities as well.

We are planning to position TECMO as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Square Enix Holdings maintaining TECMO’s current organization and brand as in the cases of Square Enix and Taito."

Infinite Undiscovery First Infinite Undiscovery review

First Infinite Undiscovery Review
The first Infinite Undiscovery review was published by gaming website IGN, and it doesn't seems like Hilary Goldstein, the reviewer, likes tri-Ace's new game:

"You probably shouldn't judge a game by its title, but in all honestly, Infinite Undiscovery tells you everything you need to know. It only half makes sense -- and only when you squint your brain. That is the design approach in a nutshell. Some of the choices tri-Ace made don't make a whole lot of sense, but you can certainly play through some of the gaffes. This isn't a game marred with horrendous bugs or unplayable combat. And it's not boring. It's just misguided. The story is intriguing enough that RPG fanatics should at least give this a rental. Considering it's on the short side for a Square-Enix RPG, you shouldn't have trouble beating it in a week."

The game received a total of 7.1 out of 10, which is pretty disappointing considering tri-Ace's success last generation. You shouldn't rule it out just yet, though, and I'll make sure to keep you up-to-date with any other Infinite Undiscovery reviews.

If that's not enough Final Fantasy XIII news for you, there's something extra. Nomura and Toriyama were interviewed by Dengeki and mentioned that Final Fantasy XIII will definitely not be released on the Xbox 360 in Japan. In addition, they said Final Fantasy Agito XIII will be released after Final Fantasy XIII.

Forever Fantasy Welcome to Forever Fantasy Version 3.0 Beta

Welcome to Forever Fantasy Version 3.0!
Hello and welcome to the new (and buggy, ewww) Forever Fantasy! As you probably noticed we have finally got rid of the old layout, and instead we are now using a beautiful new layout made by our friend Emily, a.k.a Atlanteay. The wonderful Infinite Undiscovery art you see on the right was made by Colin Tan, a very talented artist.

The new layout, which is known as "Codename Rome", is not the only thing that's changed graphics-wise; we also have a matching 'favicon' made by Jon, the webmaster of FFi, a website dedicated to Final Fantasy art which was unfortunately closed a few weeks ago.

Forever Fantasy is now having what developers call a "live beta", that means you might encounter small bugs and 404 page-errors. If you would like to help us make Forever Fantasy a better place for Final Fantasy fans, please report any error you find.

The move to the new layout was difficult and took a couple of months; unfortunately due to the removal of the previous news posting system our two year-old archive had to be deleted. We did, however, post by hand everything that happened since May, 2008 so users new to the site won't find it too empty during the beta stage.

But that's not all - the one thing I personally disliked in the previous layout was the content. The new version is a new start for us, and we now cover over 50 Square Enix games; the coverage is currently a bit empty but will eventually include up-to-date information, guides and media. Everything that was moved from the old layout was re-written for your pleasure.

We will soon introduce our unique scoring system called Weapon Rank, or WR in short, which will be our main scoring system. Like the old content, our old reviews were all re-written for your pleasure.

Time to introduce the most important part: Interaction. This time around we will hold regular competitions, articles, monthly polls and more just to get everyone involved. You are now finally able to comment on our articles without registering, as well, which is a big step for us!

Think that is all? You can't be more wrong! We have lots of plans for the near future, and hope we'll be able to show them soon. Stay tuned, and enjoy!

The 3rd Birthday Parasite Eve sequel going to be a real 3D gun action game

The 3rd Birthday isn't a cinematic RPG; going to be a real 3D gun action game
IGN has translated an interview from the latest issue of Famitsu and gave some more details about The 3rd Birthday, the Parasite Eve sequel currently in development for the Sony PSP handheld.

According to game director Hajime Tabata, the game will be a "true 3D gun action game", unlike the previous entries in the franchise. In addition, he said Square Enix is working with another development studio on the game.

Tabata also revealed that work on the game's scenario and design is nearly complete, but he didn't mention any specific time frame for a release. It is also worth mentioning that wireless play might be available, although it's uncertain.
